Planning and Assessment Policy
Tiny Town Nurseries use the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework to complete observation and assessment of children and inform planning.
Staff use the key person strategy and observe individual children on a daily basis. The observations are used to build a picture of the child and the EYFS framework is then used to identify possible areas of development. Staff then work in partnership with parents and the child to provide suitable activities to support continued development. The child is then observed and progress is recorded.
The staff use the four themes and sixteen commitments to ensure the child’s individual needs are being met. The planning also reflects the every child matters outcomes and uses the EYFS principles to produce a holistic provision.
Tiny Town Nurseries receive the Nursery Education Funding for all three and four years old and work in conjunction with the Local Education Authority to evaluate and improve the settings.
Tiny Town Nurseries encourage staff to provide a learning journey record for every child. This record includes observations, plans, information and parent comments, photographs, children’s work and comments from the child.
The learning journey record is a working document which accompanies the child through the nursery and is used as part of the transition documents when moving to a new setting. The document is a record of the child’s journey whilst at the setting.
Resources within the rooms are accessible to the children at all times.
